About the Service:
Admissions are made to our facility for GP Inpatient Care via a referral from a General Practitioner (GP), being either Health Te Aroha or Te Korowai Hauora.

GP Inpatient admission is up to a 7-day period (with an extension of 3 days by order of the Doctor i.e. maximum GP stay is 10 days). We must receive a Referral Letter from a GP before a patient can be admitted.

We are not permitted under our contract with the DHB to take GP patients if they have been discharged from a public or private hospital within the last 7 days with the same diagnosis. If the patient is having ongoing problems after discharge from a public or private hospital, they should return to that hospital or contact their Health Practitioner immediately.

GP Inpatient referral usually occurs when you require non urgent nursing care that is not able to be provided in your home.

If your health needs are as a result of an accident or injury, it may be an Admission under ACC. We are a Vendor with ACC and providing the correct referral is completed and provided to our nursing team, we can support some ACC nursing care.
